The story of The Boston Tea Company began during the historic Boston Tea Party, when our founders salvaged crates of undamaged teas from the Boston Harbor in 1773. At the time of this historic event, the colonists were revolting against the high taxes being levied on their beloved tea, while the aristocrats in England were drinking the highest quality teas quite inexpensively.
This symbolic uprising sparked two major events in the colonies. The first, of course, was the American Revolution, which led to our independence from England. The second, unfortunately, was that Americans, as an act of patriotism, became a nation of coffee drinkers.
Now, over 200 years later, The Boston Tea Company is continuing to lead the way for Americans to return to their colonial roots, by rediscovering the pleasures of the ceremonious art of drinking tea. As our founders before us, we travel the world in search of the finest tea leaves, rare herbs and exotic spices to create the finest possible cup of tea at a price that won?t cause a revolution.
As tea has evolved we have remained true to the art of tea, all of our prized teas still come from the most prestigious estates and are blended using traditional old world techniques. In 2000, we began merging the old world with the new world by marketing our well-known and delightful Boston Teas, along with our vast line of superb English inspired Bentley?s Teas, which are grown and harvested in the traditional English manner on prestigious Ceylon Tea Estates. Our vast line is now an array of green teas, black teas, white teas, flavored teas and herbal teas, as well as a full assortment of elegant wooden tea chests and exquisite gifts.
The Boston Tea Company has become an industry leader in developing and selling premium flavored teas in unique and decorative packaging. Over the years, our packaging designs, and most importantly our teas, have won numerous accolades in Gourmet Food and Beverage Industry publications and at focused events across the country.
Above all, Boston Tea Company takes pride in our ability to service our customer, by communicating and reacting to all their individual needs. With tea now perceived as today?s healthy beverage of choice, we will continue to follow our heritage and maintain our mission to develop the finest possible cup of tea that connoisseurs around the world can appreciate and afford.
