Breast Cancer Network of StrengthTM's mission is to ensure, through
information, empowerment and peer support, that no one faces breast cancer
alone. Breast Cancer Network of StrengthTM has the only 24-hour hotline
staffed entirely by trained breast cancer survivors who are trained to
provide information and support to anyone touched by breast cancer, with
interpreters in 150 languages.
Breast Cancer Network of StrengthTM Programs and services include:

• Match Programs for patients with specific diagnosis and concerns or for loved
ones and partners supporting a loved one through breast cancer
• Early detection brochures and Web site content in English, Spanish, Chinese,
Korean, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Hindi and Russian
• Lifeline, Latina News, and Peer to Peer, quarterly print and monthly e-mail
newsletters
• Informational brochures about breast cancer, including advanced disease and
clinical trials
• A Day for You – dedicated to increasing awareness and early detection in
underserved communities
• Friends of Ann & Mimi – helping women navigate the complexities of the health
care system
• Wig & Prosthesis Bank for those with limited resources
• ShareRing Network, monthly teleconferences and discussions with medical
professionals
• Advocacy – influencing legislation and increasing awareness, research and
treatment options for breast cancer

Additionally, affiliates throughout the nation provide services such as
support groups, early detection workshops, wigs and prostheses for women
with limited resources, and advocacy on breast cancer related policies in
their respective communities.
Charity Navigator, an independent evaluator of nonprofits, gives Breast
Cancer Network of StrengthTM its highest rating of four stars for sound fiscal
management. Breast Cancer Network of StrengthTM meets all of the National Health
Council's 41 Standards of Excellence, best practices that encompass the areas of
governance, personnel policies, programs finance, fundraising, accounting and
reporting, and evaluation.
Breast Cancer Network of StrengthTM is also nationally recognized for its
Mother’s Day event. Each year on Mother’s Day, the organization holds the Breast
Cancer Network of StrengthTM Race to Empower in Chicago and Breast Cancer
Network of StrengthTM Walk to Empower events across the country. In 2007, nearly
50,000 people took part, raising a total of $7 million in Chicago, Denver,
Houston, Miami, Sacramento, San Diego, Seattle, Tulsa and Washington, D.C.,
Atlanta, Cleveland and Phoenix. Eighty percent of each dollar raised benefits
programs and services offered free of charge to those seeking information and
support when facing breast cancer. Breast Cancer Network of StrengthTM is
further expanding its Mother’s Day tradition by adding Walk to Empower events in
New Haven, CT and Los Angeles, CA in 2007.
